From more than a decade I’m a wedding photographer, working between Siena, Florence and moving around Tuscany, and also throughout Italy and abroad. Lover of the reportage genre, my Wedding Stories tell about the wedding day without forcing and in a very spontaneous way, with a chronological and rhythmic sequence, well marked by the succession of different moments of the day, in a very choral and participated context.
All of this, maniacally taking care about the aspect of the composition and of the chromatisms, in order to give back to the couple a story that uses the images as the only language. Although in every ceremony there is a strong expressive recurrence and precise gestures, each of my wedding stories is always a story in itself, something unique and never equal to the subsequent wedding story. Therefore, I consider the genre of wedding photography as a real art form, because it is not easy to tell a story and to be able to excite those who read it. In fact, I find that there is an enormous difference between a mere image, more or less within everyone’s reach and a “photograph” a concentrate of meaning that, on the contrary, not everyone is able to grasp. Today there are perhaps too many images and few photographs, but it is there that the good professional makes the difference, marking the sharp line between the noise of an overexposure to an infinite multitude of images that have nothing to say and a “photo”, a photographic story.
On an instrumental level, given the general collective nature of the event, I make extensive use of wide-angle lenses capable of including not only the main protagonists in the scene, but also most of the “non-protagonist actors”, trying to tell in a single shoot all the chorus of a wedding day. Lover of natural light also, I often use fixed optics with 1.4 opening, which allows me to almost never use external flashes, instead using all the softness of natural light. On a stylistic level I’m not a total black and white lover, because I think that a similar event should be told in the most luminous and bright way possible, so that, inside my albums, the color and the light element alternate in a rhythmic way with a black and white, however, never too dark and funereal.
